I was supposed to take off to India on Friday evening from JFK and reach home on Sunday morning. But I came to know the flights are not taking off on Friday afternoon. Satish and I made a journey to JFK to find out about alternate reservation as I could not get to speak to any human being (only answering machines). After we went there they told me that the flight has been indefinitely delayed. They gave us a phone number to contact which started calling on Friday night onwards after coming back to Albany. On Saturday there was no update. Sunday morning there was no update and so was at around 10:00 AM.
In the meantime I called another phone number given by some call center in India. This was the contact to reach Air India counter at the airport. They told me that flights are taking off. Then I rented car and reached JFK checked in my baggage and realized that that flight is taking off at 07:30 PM instead of usual 09:30 PM. I still had to return rental car. But some how I made it to gate at 07:00 PM. But the flight eventually took off at 09:30 PM. After reaching Mumbai, I realized that the connecting flights were also cancelled as it was another eventual Europe bound flight. So I had to collect the baggage and get immigration done. This procedure took about 3-4 hours and I waited for another 1 hour get Indian Airlines connecting flight. This flight took off at 06:05 AM and I finally landed in Bengaluru International airport at 08:00 AM Tuesday morning.
Home Maintenance – 1
Last weekend I fixed leakage in Garden hose line. We have one line front and one like back. Both these lines have leakage. I was waiting for warm temperature to replace these and postponing since one month. I want to be alone to Home Depot / Lowe’s to research and plan comfortably. Only possible time is morning before my wife / kids get up. Once they get up it is quite impossible to spend couple of hours for this kind of shopping. Finally last Sunday morning woke up at 6:15am and started to Home Depot on Washington Avenue Extension at 7am. On they way grabbed free coffee from Brueggers at Stuyvesant Palza. I was at Home Depot by 7:20am but it was not opened. On Sunday they open at 8am, then went to Walmart next to Home Depot and spent 45 minutes and back to Home Depot. I spent more than 1 hour 30 minutes and got what I required for fixing water leakage (new lead hoses). Also got new sprayers and quick connects. Quick connect is very easy to use, just push and pull type. I know this kind which used in Industries, but these plastic one are new to me. I felt very happy after finding those for $1.99/piece. There are 4 types of quick connects depends on where to connect in that brand and got total 4 pieces (2 varieties) and fixed. Now I can switch the sprayer in 10 sec without any tool. It is very useful when I want switch between regular sprayer and Lawn watering sprayer. After fixing all these I felt very very happy.

On Saturday I woke up around 9.30 am and after that me and my sister and my bava got ready and we were ready to go to temple in bridge water and we started to temple around 10.30 and after going to temple we waited for the prayer that was being offered to the Lord Venkateswara and after the prayer got completed we had the lunch at the cafeteria that is present inside the temple and after that we went to the bridge water commons mall and we killed some time over there and done some shopping and my self and my cousin played with my nephew and then we returned home and had some snacks around 5.30 Pm and my sister prepared some pav bhaji and we all had it and enjoyed watching some movies on Television and after that I slept around 11.00 PM.
The real struggled started when I started back to Albany from New jersey.I started from my sisters place around 5.00 Pm and from there I went to Oak tree road to make some grocery shopping that are need in my home and then I started to Albany around 6.30Pm from the Oak tree raod and I got on to garden state parkway and for 30 min everything was going on fine and the traffic was going on smoothly and suddenly after I crossed the exit 143 on garden state parkway suddenly the traffic got slowly and the traffic jam continued nearly for 1 Hr and I crossed 15 miles in 1 hr and after that the traffic was fine and I reached Albany around 11.00 Pm which tool me around 4 ½ hrs to cover 170 miles.
Why are we happy–Dan Gilbert– Part II

Lets continue our post based on the notes taken from the lecture delivered by Dan Gilbert:-
Human beings have non cognitive processes running in their brain which can help them synthesize the reality into a virtual reality. This virtual reality helps them to create a balanced state , a state of happiness.
We believe that synthetic happiness might not be of the same quality as that of the natural happiness. Synthetic happiness can be as real as the natural happiness which we reach when we achieve the paradigm that we set for ourselves. Even the amnesic people tend to believe that the things that they own are better than the things that they don’t own. We might think that amnesic people don’t really know that they own something or not. Even though that happens to be the case, amnesic people are also able to create synthetic happiness for themselves.
In a experiment, 10 students were asked to choose the picture from a set of 2 pictures. They were promised that they can get the other picture if they were unsatisfied with the picture they chose. Other 10 students were asked to choose a picture and told that they would have to stick with the picture they choose.
The results showed that the student who were give choice to return the picture were more likely to be unhappy with the picture they chose. The student who were not given the choice were more likely to be happy with the picture they chose because they created synthetic happiness in their mind regarding the picture they chose.
My Hectic Weekend
Guys,
I would like to explain the restless week end i have faced which was on the last weekend.I started from Albany on Friday at 3.30 pm from office and took the bus and reached my home by 3.50 Pm and then i packed all my items needed and then started to New Jersey on my New car and the traffic was fine and not so bad and every one were going at the average speed of 80 mph and i also continued the same along with others on interstate 87 and finally when i reached the interstate 287 i slowed down to the speed limit as there were many cops on that interstate on that day.
It finally took me nearly 2hrs40min to cover 180 miles and then on Friday night after reaching my sister home in New Jersey i had a cup of tea and then i played with my cousin for some time and after that along with me my sister and my sisters husband and my cousin got ready to go to Mexican restaurant that is on Route 1 and the name of the restaurant is Jose Teja’s and really i liked the place and we reached there around 10.00 pm and the waiter told us there is 25 min waiting time and we waited there out side and i was playing with my nephew and finally the waiter came to us and said that we are ready to take the seats and i was really hungry and i ordered the smoked salmon and one Texas margarita.
The food was really awesome and the drink is simply superb as i ordered another one and i had a lot of food on that day and reached home around 12.00AM and slept around 1.00 AM.
In the Next post i will talk about what i did on Saturday and my return to Home.

Capital District Transport Authority is the Transit service in Capital Region serves Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady Counties and takes people to many destinations safely ate very reasonable cost. CDTA was started in 1970 and operates bus and train services now. CDTA and its subsidiaries own and operate the Rensselaer Rail and Saratoga Springs Train Stations. CDTA also operates the Northway Xpress Commuter Service between Saratoga County and downtown Albany. It operates more than 300 buses and with around 650 employees.
We are very lucky to have such a beautiful service in Albany area. In United States it is rare to have such a great public transportation. I personally used this service for several years at very reasonable price. I encourage to use public Transportation as possible as it influences many factors.
1) reduces traffic on roads
2) saves lots of fuel
3) less pollution and good for environment
4) Reduced accidents
CDTA offers different fares. Its base fare is $1.50 and it offers Day card unlimited use for $4, 3 day pass unlimited use for $10. It also offers 5 day swiper ard for $55 and 7 day swiper for $65. It als offers ten trip pass for $13. It also offers half fare swipers. CDTA also operates Park & Ride, where public can park their care at nearest Park & Ride for free and take bus and relax.

Eye-Fi
A few months back Google had a special to promote one of their products. It was for Google Storage, their service that allows you to increase your online storage for Google products, such as Gmail, Picasa and Google Docs. Currently, Picasa only offers up to 1 Gb of storage for your photos. If you’re like me who takes lots of pictures (especially of my son) and likes to share them with family and friends, 1 gig goes by real fast, even at low resolutions. Gmail offers around 7 gig, but you can only use them for Gmail and not for other Google services.
Google had been offering extra storage for a yearly fee, but initially I thought they were a little pricey. I was already paying for web hosting for my websites so I could just use my storage there. But then Google offered 200 gb of storage for $50, along with a free Eye-Fi card, which made me reconsider. An Eye-Fi card by itself was already selling for around $80, so this was a really good deal. My plan was to get the deal, then after a year downgrade to 20 gb of storage which would only cost me $5 a year. This would be plenty of space for me, even for full-resolution pictures.
For those not familiar with Eye-Fi, it is basically an SD card with Wi-Fi capability built-in. It is intended to be used with a digital camera so that after taking a picture, it gets automatically uploaded to a server or an online photo sharing site, such as Picasa (assuming you have a Wi-Fi signal available that you can connect to). In addition, the Eye-Fi card geo-tags your photos using Wi-Fi triangulation, giving you an estimate of your photo location. Normally the service for uploading to an online service will incur a fee, but as part of the promotion, Google will waive the fee as long as you subscribe to Google storage.
Using the Eye-Fi card has been good so far. Whenever we take pictures at home they are automatically uploaded to Picasa and to my file server. The main drawback is that you can’t turn off the camera right away because it takes a few minutes for the pictures to be uploaded. And you can forget about videos, you’ll probably drain your battery just to upload one video. But this is because the card that was bundled was a wireless-b card; Eye-Fi now has a wireless-g card that should upload much faster. I hope Google bundles that next time
Why are we happy–Dan Gilbert

These are the notes taken from the lecture delivered by Dan Gilbert:-
Human brain has increased in size over the period of thousands of the years. This helps the human brain today to simulate the future with the help of part of the brain called as frontal cortex.
Year after losing the legs and year after losing the legs, two different people can be equally happy. Different outcomes are more different than they really are. Different results have less impact on the human being over the period of time.
The person who was exonerated after 37 years for the crime he had not committed felt the experience as glorious. We would have thought that he should have felt miserable for losing all those precious years of life.
These are the examples of synthetic happiness created by the human brain. Natural happiness is what we get when we get what we really want. Synthetic happiness is what we create for ourselves when we don’t get what we really want. Synthetic happiness can be as long lasting as real happiness.
Other example of synthetic happiness would be buying a less expensive car when you really want to buy expensive car. Over the period of the time, we convince ourselves our car is the real value for money.
We will continue this discussion in the next part.
