Ball Badminton

It is one of my favorite game when I was a kid. Basically ball badminton is played with a team of five on each side with full court and can also be played with 2 members on each side with half court. It is played with wooden racket and yellow woolen ball. The game is for 29. If it is single game when the score is 15, teams change the court. If it is best of three they change the court after 1st and 2nd game. The serve is diagonal and ball to be served from under the shoulder. Each team will get five hands of service. First starts with front right player followed by front left, right back, left back and then center player. The server switches left and right as long is the hand is up. It is unlike tennis the ball should be hit without touching the ground. If it touches the ground then one of the team will get point based on the place the ball hit the ground.

I played this game for about 6 years from my 6th standard to 12th standard. I used to play almost ever day. My place was left back most of the times. When I was in school I used to be in top five or ten players. When I was in 11th and 12th standards, I used to participate from village team. We used to bet half rupee to 1 rupee between us and 5 rupees to 20 rupees when playing with other village teams. When I was in 11th and 12th standard I used to play with one of my friend. He is not bad but weak in play compare to me, but he always want to play and want to win against me. But in 2 years he never win a game against me. Normally every body comes around 5:30pm,  but he and me used to start playing from 4:30pm. When we were only two, he used to play half of half court  with 10 points for him and I used to play half court and my score was zero and there used to be bet. I remember I used to earn my pocket money just playing this game.  We used to have lot of fun in those days.  That’s all with Ball Badminton.

This version of badminton has advantage over conventional shuttle badminton becaise it can be palyed out doors as well. Wind won’t affect the game..!
